Janet Albrechtsen’s bad day
September 8th, 2010 by Syd Walker

Yesterday was a momentus day in Australian politics.

Many Australians – myself included – are pleased with the outcome, given the available alternatives.

The Gillard Labor Government will remain in power – but only with the support of Independents Andrew Wilkie, Rob Oakshott and Tony Windsor and Greens Party MP Adam Brandt.

Labor has negotiated three new agreements as it clawed it’s way back to power. These constitute improvements, however modest, to Labor’s policies and the processes of the new Parliament.

But yesterday was not a good day for everyone.

I happened to take a snapshot of Janet Albrechtsen’s Twitter page, soon after the last two Independents declared their support for a Labor Government (presumably around the time she typed this dummy-spit).

These are the bleating tweets of a News Corp hackette*, a discredited Zionist hate-monger who enjoys occasional sponsored travel – and (believe it or not) a former Board Member of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation!

It’s something you’d expect the president of the Young Student Liberals to say in the heat of the moment…in an SMS to their Young Student Liberals colleague and favourite best friend. Not something you’d expect from a prominent mainstream journalist.

Forget the thrush, how can someone be so openly partisan and still keep their job in journalism? (silly rhetorical question)

You understand that that’s a fake account, right?

You mean Janet’s fine column in the Australian? Or Jant on Twitter?

To be completely honest, no I didn’t realise initially. It’s definitely one of the better fake Twitter accounts. Quite believable. Thanks for posting the comment.

I did become suspicious when Jant re-tweeted the post. :-)

My short article, as far as I’m aware, is accurate in other respects.

And the election yielded an extra bonus–that religious zeolot Stephen Fielding lost his Senate seat.

After June 30 next year he’ll be gone from Parliament. You beauty.

She should sue that dirty sod.

    Dirty sod!

And I guess she would sue him (I assume it’s a him) in a heartbeat if she thought it would do more damage to him than the resulting publicity given to his twittering would do to her reputation…

What a dilemma for the poor old girl.
