This is a very poignant post. What was the cause of the Great War? I now reject the orthodox view that is propagandized by the media.

This was a very different era from today. Back them the west was still battling the age old class struggle and female suffrage. Back then, many native people of the world were treated a sub humans along with those who were considered petty criminal or insane.

One thing that strikes me was that WW1 brought and end to very long dynasty of the House of Hohenzollern. The last fragment of this dynasty was the German Empire (1871 to 1918) which was the last empire that was in competition with the British Empire or the former German royal dynasty, the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Other notable empires that had stood defiant until WW1 were the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Ottoman Empire. You could say that the WW1 reshaped the geopolitical landscape (borrowing a much used term) of Euro-Asia since this also brought the end of the Russian empire.

War is indeed a crime against humanity and does nothing to bring freedom to this world.
