I use Chrome, and I could originally read both of the pages in question with no problems. But now they don’t display for me in Chrome. I dug out IE (which I haven’t used for ages) and both pages displayed fine. Perhaps (and this is probably taking conspiracy theories a bit too far) the pages have been DELIBERATELY sabotaged for browsers that more net-savvy people might use, such as Chrome and Safari, and left ok for the common man’s IE? Hmmm…

NY Post defends chimp cartoon despite racism claims
Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post newspaper is being criticised for publishing a cartoon that some have interpreted as portraying US President Barack Obama as the violent chimpanzee who was shot dead by police earlier this week. The paper has defended its decision.

But horror has given way to outrage in some quarters after the New York Post published a cartoon on the attack. It shows two police officers, one with a smoking gun, standing over the body of a bullet riddled chimp.

The caption reads: ‘They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill’.

This is only seen with the last two super blog post. In Opera only the heading and page footer is seen. In Safari (Webkit) the article and comments appear halfway down the page. This is what Brandon is seeing also with Konqueror (Webkit).

I have looked at the HTML and it a mess and the CSS has many parsing errors. I don’t know JavaScript but this does seem like a scripting bug. Concerning the CSS, they should employ me top fix up the CSS and free it from it’s parsing errors.

I could possibly locate what is happening but that would require me to pull the code apart bit by bit.

I’m using Konqueror (uses KHTML, from which WebKit was originally forked), and while the top half of the page is mostly blank, except for headline and some framing stuff, all the content exists: It just starts many blank pages down (about halfway on the scrollbar). I’m guessing it’s some bizarre Javascript or CSS cockup/bug triggered by the length of the comments.

I just brought up Conroy’s article in Internet Explorer.

I had read at Whirlpool that some people were having trouble commenting using certain browsers. I hadn’t realized that articles can become completely invisible in Opera etc. and didn’t think of testing with IE. Is this ‘super blogging’ or what?

I noticed this too, but I think the pages are still working on Internet Explorer. The fact that lots of people (like us) are using Firefox and Chrome etc is beside the point I guess.

If I were into conspiracy theories, I’d say that more anti-filter people use browsers other than IE, and pro-filter people tend to use whatever is the default on their machines (IE then!) and this is a deliberate attempt to skew the comments (again). That would be crazy though, wouldn’t it?

Actually it appears to be working on Firefox again for me, but the comments don’t seem to work so well through anything other than IE.
