I published my previous article, First They Went for Canberra… Now They Want Berlin! on this blog yesterday. It elicited a stern rebuke from a member of an ‘anti-censorship’ email list in which I participate.

I guess this was punishment for daring to mention:

• that in Germany, internet ‘filtering’ is certain to entail State management of information about the events of World War Two (after more than 60 years!)
• there’s clear evidence the narrative of the World War Two Jewish ‘Holocaust’ officially-sanctioned by mainstream Jewish organizations has changed significantly over time (I did not discuss why it has changed; an interesting topic that requires a longer discussion)
• Widespread acceptance of the official ‘Holocaust’ narrative has played a crucial role in Israel’s history, from before its inception through to the present day.

My post to the email list simply gave the title of the article and a web address – and invited others to read the article. That’s all.

Fellow participants haven’t mentioned it in subsequent posts to the list. I’m guessing, but I imagine they’re terrified to be associated in any way with potentially serious Thought Crime. Perhaps they’re planning a trip to Austria or Germany? In any case, they’ll have careers to consider.

What's needed is real balance

Most fundamental in explaining the non-reaction, I suspect, is that my article breaches one of the implicit rules of public discourse in modern Australia; it ran counter to Australians’ deeply-ingrained and almost Pavlovian Judeophilia, which is itself the product of a lifetime’s exposure to pro-Jewish bias via the mass media and other mass culture. (Incidentally – to be clear – I don’t seek the opposite of Judeophilia, which is Judeophobia. I seek genuine balance. The affairs of both Jews and non-Jews should be disucssed in an even-handed way; criticism of both should be acceptable.)

The email list is primarily focussed on defeating the Rudd Government’s ‘Clean Feed’ proposal, which in plain English is a proposal to censor the web. It’s a fairly high-frequency list. Occasionally trivia is discussed in some detail. The exact number of pinheads on the butt of an algorithm (I jest) is a legitimate subject for chit chat. But there was no smalltalk about my article, nothing… except for the one abusive email telling me to shut up.

It’s not far from the outcome I expected. My key concern is that people read the article. The web stats confirm that’s happening. Whether these readers are with the ADL, the AIJAC or even the Mossad, my stats don’t say.

Here are some key points I wish to make. I’ll state them as clearly as I can… in bold, so it’s easy for ALL readers, whatever their interest and background, to understand:

All attempts to censor opinion and belief will ultimately fail and any social system, ideology or nation that survives only by enforcement of mandatory beliefs is built on sand and will ultimately vanish.

The attempt to censor provokes legitimate  debate about substantive issues that may underlie the attempt to censor.

Such debate cannot be suppressed without fueling further opposition to censorship.

I’m going to call this Catch 66 (like the original in triplicate) – or Socrates’ Last Laugh. It leads the the following conclusion:

An attempt to impose censorship without genuine broad-based consent will be self-defeating.

The push to censor the World Wide Web – within Australia and elsewhere in the ‘western world’ – is commonly associated with the Christian Lobby. Many participants in the anti-censorship campaign make this association. It is acceptable – indeed it is de rigeur – to name and blame the Christian Lobby.

I have a heretical view. I realise some Christians are keen on Internet censorship, but many are not. There’s little evidence that I’ve encountered of a strong push by mainstream organized Christianity to censor the web. Here in Australia, the ‘Christian Charge’ has been led by one noisy lobby group whose Managing Director has a cv that arguably qualifies him for work with ASIO more than the role of an authentic Christian representative.

Whereas it’s acceptable and quite normal to blame Christians for the censorship drive, it is apparently scandalous to suggest a Jewish/Zionist angle. That’s the taboo I breached.

Now, I confess I don’t know the truth for sure. I have what I regard as reasonable and well-founded suspicions – but no damning evidence.

Who are the real prime movers behind this multi-national push to foist ‘Internet filtering’ on the western world? It could be that most of them are motivated by a passionate commitment to Jesus Christ and what they understand his teachings to have been. It’s possible.

However, the alternative possiblility I’ve raised surely merits consideration too? Do forces behind the push to censor the web include Jewish or Zionist interests and interest groups? Are they, in fact, playing a central role in the censorship push?

I think so – but I could be proved wrong. Indeed, I’d be delighted to be proved wrong. It would make my day.

Why doesn’t organized Jewry in Australia come out publicly on the side of free speech and against compulsory Internet censorship?

Frank and David Lowy: their opposition to web censorship would carry weight

A statement from AIJAC would be helpful – backed up by a strong anti-censorship media release from the Lowy Institute and the Sydney Institute (both pro-Zionist ‘think tanks’). Perhaps a few prominent Rabbis could pitch in too – especially from the politically influential Chabbad Lubbavitch.

How about setting up a new Jewish-Australian lobby group to focus on this important issue?

In case the mainstream Jewish community does read this blog and takes my advice, here’s a first draft media release. I don’t usually do free work for Zionists, but in this case I’ll make an exception:

A new broad-based lobby group has been formed within Australia’s Jewish community to defend the access of ALL Australians to an uncensored World Wide Web.

Rabbi ________ , who has agreed to serve as Interim Chairperson of ‘Jewish Australians for a Free Internet‘, said today:

“The Jewish people have suffered more than any other people on earth for much longer than anyone else because of incessant persecution from the majority of human-kind. This irrational persecution has been motivated by bigotry, ultimately grounded in ignorance.

“Free speech is a most important safeguard for the Jewish people. The legitimacy of our case and the verifiability of our meticulously accurate historical narrative always shines through in free and open debate.

“The internet provides Jews with an unparalleled opportunity to engage with detractors and rectify widespread misunderstandings. ‘Made in Hollywood‘ Holocaust movies can only do so much good; ultimately, we need the chance to uphold and prove our factually-based narrative in unfettered open debate, recorded for posterity.

“We therefore urge Prime Minister Rudd to abandon ill-conceived proposals to censor Australia’s Internet.

“Concerns over pornography are best addressed by parental education and voluntary, locally-installed filtering software which the Government should continue to provide free of charge on request.”

Rabbi ________concluded by pointing out the broad-based support within Australia’s Jewish community for this initiative.

He said: ‘Jewish Australians for a Free Internet’ has support from many other Jewish Australian organizations, including AIJAC. We’re delighted that Frank Lowy has made a significant donation to get us up and running quickly. It is particularly nice to have a strong written statement of support from Gerald Henderson, Director of the widely-respected Sydney Institute – and from the illustrious Robert Manne, Australia’s No 1 Public Intellectual.”
