Senator Brown: needs a new script on Palestine
I realize that Australian Greens Leader Senator Brown is a ‘responsible’ politician who cannot be expected to go out on a limb and upset Rupert Murdoch, the Zionist cabal who seem to dominate the ABC and SBS – or anyone else who might sling an accusation of ‘Anti-Semitism’ his way.
I realise that the Australian Greens have a ‘nuanced’ and much-debated policy on Palestine/Israel and that a policy review might takes years.
Even so, we’re all allowed to dream.
Last weekend, Bob Brown issued this statement on behalf of the Greens, reported here. Rather than risking offense by critiquing Senator Brown’s statement with red ink, I’ve drafted a media release for ex-medic Brown to issue ASAP. It’s just my thoughts, of course. Not official, yet
How about this for a new script, Dr Brown?
Australian Greens call on Rudd
to break Ties with Israel
1st DRAFT Media Release… Thursday January 8th, 2009
Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown calls on acting Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to place Australia’s full weight behind international moves to isolate the apartheid Israeli regime.
“We call on the Prime Minister to speak out strongly against the horrific slaughter of Gazans by the Israeli military. On a recent count, 2,500 have been injured, 45% women and children. It is a man-made medical crisis of shocking dimensions” Greens Leader Bob Brown said today.
“The State of Israel continues to commit blatant war crimes in Gaza and ignores widespread calls for a cease fire.
“In these circumstances, after years of compromise and trying to influence the Israeli Government in a benign direction, the Australian Greens no longer support continuation of diplomatic relations with the Zionist State.

Hugo Chavez: a superior policy
“We now call on the Government to follow Venezuela’s courageous lead and expel the Israeli Ambassador to Canberra.
“Australia should also be active at the United Nations demanding an IMMEDIATE and PERMANENT end to the Israeli attack on Gaza.
“I intend to lead the Australian Greens in an urgent policy review on the Middle East and Palestine.
“I believe Israel must be treated the same way as apartheid South Africa and subjected to international boycott, without delay.”

A lot of Australians don’t care much about Gaza and don’t want to talk about it – it might be inconvenient.
