Here in the antipodes, it’s hard to tell goodies from baddies in distant Illinois.
Most of us rely on the ABC or one of Mr Murdoch’s ubiquitous Australian ‘media products’ to do this kind of thing for us. That, of course, is rather like relying on Mr Madoff to keep your savings secure.
I got my first clue something might not be 100% right about the mainstream spin when I noticed Fox News talking heads seem to smear Blagojevich’s name and prejudge his ‘guilt’ at almost every available opportunity.
Now the excellent daily listings website What Really Happened points to this video of Governor Rod Blagojevich shortly before his arrest.
Ah! So there he is, the loathsome Mr Blagojevich.
It’s true, he does look wicked, taking action against major financial institutions on behalf of workers in his State!
And how thoughtful of the mainstream media to give no prominence to this video clip in the aftermath of hus sudden arrest. Why, it might have confused the public!
What can be said with certainty is that irrespective of Blago’s guilt or innocence, his bust story has already been ‘framed’ by the US mass media as story of the week.
