Orlin Grabbe ran a very cool website.
When I first discovered it a few years ago, I couldn’t believe ‘Orlin Grabbe’ wasn’t a pantomime name: “All-in grab” – geddit?
But apparently not. Orlin was an extraordinary real dude who passed away last March at the age of 61. And he most definitely was a ‘real dude’.
I’m not the only one to miss his eclectic, zany website. Some good folk have restored the set of Orlin’s Ghosts of Homepages Past. Check out OrlinGrabbe.com
Near the top of Orlin’s Homepage are inspiring words:
“What forbids us to tell the truth, laughingly?”
–Horace, Satires, I.24
In the spirit of Orlin Grabbe, here’s a photo that was unwisely posted on Facebook after an Obama Staff Party. It’s already done the rounds. Chief groper is Obama’s speechwriter, Jon Favreau.

Clinton senior adviser Philippe Reines gave a fine response.
Reines commented: “Senator Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon’s obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application.”
