i find it deplorable that in this day and age a draconian government is taking a thalimide approach to what i can and cannot access on the internet. i am old enough and wise enough to decide for myself what is appropiate for me to view online. we look at china and hypocritically comment on its totalitarian regime yet we will be employing the same technology used in china to keep free thinking australians from accessing "inappropiate" sites.... but who decides what is unappropiate? i wonder what mr rudd has been discussing with his asian counterparts in mandarin??

in the end its easy enough to circumvent the clean feed by buying space on a VPN network because their buisness croinies use this to generate international business and no government in its right mind would dare tamper with free enterprise. but its all a matter of principle, that some wowser in canberra decides what i am allowed to access. and thats why i'll fight this to the hilt and i suggest you all do the same. its the thin end of the wedge and if it succeeds one has to wonder which one of our fast eroding civil liberties will be taken away next. we've been losing freedoms since 9/11/01 with the excuse of terrorism and theres not much left to be lost at all. the terrorists have already won the battle by empowering governments to apply unreasonable constraints on our freedoms... lets make sure they dont win the war too as their intention is to change the way we live.

as thomas jefferson famously said dissention is the greatest form of patriotism. SO WHERE IS YOUR OUTRAGE? Now is the time to speak up, or forever hold your peace and get trapped in a world of online mediocrity!

I am a pyschic, and this feels like a Faustian deal made with the current U.S. administration to see if a so-called Western democracy would tolerate such a clamp down on free speech. It's like a trial balloon for the same thing happening in the U.S. and Europe.
